TATTOO CARE
WHAT TO USE:
- antibacterial soap (dr bronners, dial, neutrogena)/tegaderm/
fragrance-free, dye-free lotion (Aveeno is my favorite)
WHAT TO DO:
- leave the bandage on for at least 4 hours
- wash your hands well before touching the tattoo
- immediately after the bandage is removed wash the tattoo with soap and water. wash and rinse until all the slimy stuff is gone and wipe gently with a paper towel to minimize scabbing
- cover with Tegaderm/leave on for 48 hours
- remove tegaderm (pro tip: slowly peel off in a hot steaming shower) wash, dry
- cover with tegaderm and leave on for another 48 hours
- wash the tattoo at least three times a day until completely healed
- if the tattoo feels tight and dry use Aveeno lotion
whenever you feel like you need it (a flaky layer will form over the tattoo)
- avoid direct sunlight and use sunscreen on your tattoo once it is healed to keep it looking bright
What NOT to do:
- DO NOT pick at the scab/flaky layer
- DO NOT put anything else on the tattoo except soap and water
- DO NOT use sponges, loofahs, washcloths, or brushes
- DO NOT let anyone else touch your tattoo
- DO NOT soak in a tub or pool
